The benefits of therapeutic foot reflexology

An ancestral practice, foot reflexology is a gentle, manual method that considers the individual as a whole, from a holistic point of view. This alternative care technique involves small points of low pressure over the entire foot, in order to detect and release tension.

The reflexology aims to mobilize the body’s self-healing process that will act to re-balance a physical, emotional, or energy disorder. In addition to its relaxing and stimulating properties, it acts on the cardiovascular, digestive, urinary, reproductive, osteoarticular, respiratory, muscular, immune, endocrine, and nervous systems and on sensory organs.

The manual technique of foot reflexology provides a real source of well-being and an overall improvement in the body’s balance.

It is based on the principle that these “reflex zones” correspond to the various organs, glands, and parts of the human body.

The reflexologist performs this care mainly, but not exclusively, by stimulating these reflex areas to in particular:

  • Relax tensions caused by stress, being at the origin of many physical and psychological disorders
  • Improve blood and lymphatic circulation
  • Help to eliminate waste that accumulates in the body
  • Stimulate the natural balance and internal self-healing process of the human body
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Initiate revitalizing actions; and
  • Improve sleep.

What happens during a foot reflexology session?

Stage 1: In the first session I begin with a full questionnaire that gives me a better understanding of who you are: the reason for consultation, medical history, way of life, environment, etc. This allows me to assess your health.

Stage 2: You are installed comfortably in a massage chair in your home (I adapt to your home).

Stage 3: I then proceed with foot reflexology care suitable for your needs. Your feet will be entirely and carefully examined to determine blocked areas and zones of tension that will then require particular attention.

Stage 4: The session ends with an exchange about your perceptions, and the sensations you felt.

At each sitting, I always begin with a few questions in order to find out how you felt after the last session and how things have changed.

Patients are fully dressed for a foot reflexology session, only your shoes and socks need to be taken off.

Length of a session

On average, the sessions last for an hour.
